Here's Why Trixie Mattel Isn't in Dead by Daylight

There are many collabs that never make it to daylight, and ironically, some don’t even make it to Dead by Daylight. Now, even if this has been talked about on Twitter in a thread and then further onto a now-locked Reddit thread. The thread had to be locked due to an abundance of hate speech, and allegedly a similar incident is what's keeping the world's most famous drag queen out of the game.

If you have spent enough time online or just know your drag queens, you’ve certainly heard of the skinny legend, Trixie Mattel. You may know her as a RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars winner or one part of the now-cancelled UNHhhh show co-hosted with fellow drag queen and RuPaul's Drag Race alumnus Katya.

Now the duo continue in their podcast The Bald And The Beautiful (because both drag queens are bald underneath their stunning blonde wigs) and Netflix’s I Like To Watch, which tries to fill our hole from the UNHhhh cancellation. Trixie Mattel is a workhorse who has done LPs, a motel renovating show, a house renovating show, and a makeup line on top of a long-running YouTube career with her iconic mug and even has her own doll.

It’s hard to even list everything Trixie has done, but at least for now, a Dead by Daylight appearance won't be in her curriculum.

The Abortive Trixie Mattel x Dead by Daylight Collab

According to Dead by Daylight concept artist Dvveet on social media, Trixie Mattel was slated to have a Legendary Skin for Kate in the game.

Trixie is drawn to horror as a genre and has been one of the most famous LGBT people to actually be vocal about playing Dead by Daylight, listing it as one of her favourite games at the time. The artist would play a few rounds of the game while being in drag, going as far back as 7 years ago on Polygon:

The story goes that, after hosting DBD events and fundraisers by playing the horror game, a collab was in the works, but this didn’t go past the concept stage. Talks started in 2023 for the following year’s Pride Release, but it got pushed back because of Trixie’s big mental health break, which caused many fans to worry.

In 2024, the Dead by Daylight team approached Trixie again, but during the negotiations phase, an ignorant comment was allegedly thrown her way. After the incident, Trixie Mattel stepped back and closed talks on the collab. Since late 2025, Trixie has been talking about the game again, but it’s unknown if a Kate skin is still in the cards.

The source for the story claims to know who was involved in the dispute, but emphasized that it is up to Trixie Mattel herself to decide what is appropriate and what’s not in negotiations with her. The Trixie Mattel Dead by Daylight concept art pieces were shared briefly before and now can be seen in full, so that we can all wonder what could have been.

Dead by Daylight is an online asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game available for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, XBOX One and Series X|S, Android, iOS, and PC.
