Gennady gets Nintendo Switch release date, new trailer

Courtesy of Sobaka Studio and Feed 64, we have the release date for Gennady. The game is hitting Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2026.

Gennady, an absurd monochrome roguelike platformer, was initially announced for Nintendo Switch during the summer. Last we heard, it was arriving in Q4 of this year – and that target was met.

Here’s an overview of the game:

Gennady awakens from a horrible nightmare – riding a bus only to realize he’s been sent to a grim alien factory that wants to grind him into meat…and he’s not wearing any pants! This everyman may not be heroic; Chthonic creatures won’t let him out easily, so it’s up to Gennady to use alien weaponry and his own brute strength to traverse procedurally generated black-and-white locales.

Burst through falling platforms, blood-stained walls, and murky waters with furious speed as a living projectile. Beat enemies to a bloody pulp in classic hand-to-hand combat, or wield an arsenal of extraterrestrial weapons. Acquire abilities throughout Gennady’s journey, including Big Knuckles to increase his attack range, or Fire Wave to create flames that appear upon landing.

Unleash Gennady’s Rage Mode to deal greater damage at increased speeds. Purchase shields, ammo, and other resources to keep the brutality going. Collect artefacts throughout each run and upgrade Gennady’s abilities. Overcome grotesque boss encounters and bend the rules of death by shooting collected artefacts that carry over into future runs.
